Not many Mac users are hardcore gamers, but surely most of them can enjoy a good casual / puzzle game every once in a while. Bakno's MacPool is exactly what one needs after a long day at work, and, to the delight of the game's fans, MacPool has been updated to include some tweaks and new additions.

The realistic computer 9-ball simulation game is "simple and easy to play, designed with our latest 'smoked window' interface," Bakno says. Even though you have never played Bakno's MacPool before, you surely know the rules of 9-Ball Billiards (shoot the lowest ball on the table, and the one who pockets the 9-ball first wins), so there's no reason not to at least try the demo out. Plus, the demo version (which is free, of course) allows for ten turns per game, so if you're a genuine "hot-shot", you can live with the demo alone (not passing any hint for not buying the game).

MacPool also offers a great online game mode which has you going head to head with players around the globe. It also works in the demo version, and it's cross platform, too. Really, what are you doing still reading this piece?! Oh, the changes occurring with the latest release (10.5.1.1)... I totally forgot. Well, with the new version of the game, you get enhanced Instructions, more topics and links to important resources, an invitation notification that acts as a bouncing icon and a revamped ranking system connectivity. Minor bug fixes are also included in the new release, Bakno says.

Players of Bakno's games for Mac can also benefit (so to speak) from the ability to purchase (virtual) coins which they can use whenever their game trial expires. The new "pay per play" solution is an alternative to purchasing a traditional shareware license. The game developer notes that after you purchase coins, you will receive an email with a Key Code to be entered on your game exactly as when you purchase a license. This key code will unlock the same amount of plays as coins purchased.
