Apple Authorized Reseller MacMall has announced a grand opening event for its new retail store located at 329 W. Grand, Chicago, Illinois. The new store will be MacMall’s first in the Chicago area.

Scheduled to open this Saturday, March 31st, 2012, the event will feature a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting, drawings for technology products totaling over $7,000, and more.

The contest will be available to the first 500 people to visit the store. Prizes include a MacBook Air, a Wacom Intuos5 tablet, five Apple TVs, two iPod touches, three iPod nanos, an HP Officejet printer and more. Unfortunately, no third-gen iPad will be awarded.

The store will open its doors at 9 a.m. sharp. The MacBook Air drawing will be held immediately after the ribbon cutting, at 10 a.m., MacMall said.

Limited edition T-Shirts will be handed to the first 100 people in line, while the first 200 who make a purchase will receive a free gift bag.

Finally, the first 1,000 customers will receive a limited edition MacMall 2-in-1 Stylus.

There will also be a special drawing for businesses. Three “high demand technology products” will be given away each day from March 26 through March 30 to business customers.

The hardware includes Wacom Intuos5 tablets, HP Folio notebooks, TouchSmart PCs and Slate tablets, and HP Top Shot printers.

“We are excited to enter the Chicago market with our broad offering of leading edge technology products and on-site repair services,” said Dan DeVries, president of MacMall. “Customers will find that we offer a wider selection and better prices than many of the competitors in our space.”

In addition to Macs, MacMall stores also offer PC-based products and other high-end consumer electronics, including products from HP, Adobe, Samsung, Sony, Epson, Brother, Logitech, Targus and more.

The stores mimic Apple’s flagship Genius bars with an in-house legion of technical experts that provide Apple Authorized Service including on-site repair service and free seminars.
