MacJournal, a journaling application for Mac OS X 10.4.9 (Tiger) and Mac OS 10.5.x (Leopard), has been updated to version 5.1.2 Beta. The new release adds some fixes to MobileMe syncing, and the ability, among others, to change the label on multiple entries at once.

Developed by Mariner Software, MacJournal lets you create, edit, and manage journals with a very long list of features and options. Whether you use it to keep a diary and blog entries, or to maintain a detailed account of your activity, MacJournal helps with pretty much anything, as it employs toolbars, a spell checker, font and color panels, localization, and drawers. All these are provided in a UI consistent with that of Apple's Mac OS X. The software supports "all the cool OS X doodads you would expect," developer Mariner Software claims, as MacJournal has been written using Cocoa in Mac OS X.

Besides making backups, MacJournal also lets you sync your journal to your MobileMe account, so that it is safe and easily accessible. By using this program, you can export both journals and entries in a variety of formats, so that they might be used in other applications as well. Creating one file per entry is available as an option, as is exporting keywords, topics and annotations. A list of new additions (highlights) in MacJournal 5.1.2 Beta is available below.

· You can now change the label on multiple entries at once. · The entry edit windows will no longer hide when you switch applications. · Added hidden pref ImportAudioVideoAsEntryRecording. · Updated Google GData framework to 1.5. · Some fixes to MobileMe syncing. · Fixed Wiki link auto-discovery.

You may download and install a 15-day trial version of MacJournal by following the download link provided below. You can use the same link to upgrade your existing copy of the software. Requirements call for QuickTime 7.2 or later. A one-user license for MacJournal costs $34.95.
