While everyone is talking about the new MacBooks that were launched yesterday, the MacBooks Pros themselves also got a little attention. Apple has given the machines a small update that has gone largely unnoticed due to the lack of a formal public statement and the excitement about the new consumer versions.

The speeds of the 15-inch MacBook Pros were updated yesterday by Apple. Although there has been no official statement, the Apple store now offers a 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo processor for the $1,999 MacBook Pro, while the $2,499 model now has a 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo chip. This small speed bump is free of charge, and available to everyone.

In addition to the speed bumps, the MacBook Pros can also be purchased with "Glossy" displays. The "glossy" display which is standard on the new MacBooks makes graphics, photos, and videos appear with richer color and deeper blacks and is "great for watching DVD movies," according to Apple. Those who wish this type of display can change to it at no added cost from the build-to-order options for both the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models.

The new faster MacBook Pros with "glossy" displays are available for immediate delivery.
