Customers are taking their devices in for repairs one by one

A year and a half after the infamous burn-in problem was first reported, unhappy MacBook Pro owners continue to make trips to their local Apple stores for screen replacements.

The issue has long been attributed to a faulty batch of displays (either from Samsung or LG, I can’t quite remember), and Apple has replaced the screens, and sometimes the whole MacBook Pro, for numerous affected customers.

18 months after the issues were first reported, people with 2012 MacBook Pro models continue to visit their local Apple stores for repairs / replacements.

A thread up on Apple Support Communities titled “MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?” has reached over one million visits (and change), with more than 9,300 replies spanning 620 pages at the time of this writing.

It seems the issue is not only far from over, but continues to make victims as some displays are showing their faulty nature late in the computer’s lifetime.
