The all-day MacBook could become a reality really soon, if Apple’s recent hiring intentions are any indication. The company is trying to beef up on its engineering talent with a focus on LED backlighting that might pave the way for MacBooks with IGZO displays.

“The position primarily involves test & characterization for Apple’s custom backlight driver silicon to be used in next generation Macintosh platforms spanning from notebook computers, desktop computers, servers and standalone displays,” reads just one of the job adverts.

In 2013, some reports indicated that Apple was planning to bring IGZO display technology (developed by SHARP) to iPads and MacBooks.

Apple flashing these job adverts now kicked off a new wave of speculation that the company is going to incorporate highly power-efficient IGZO displays into its future MacBooks, leading to a 24-hour battery life for the MacBook Pro, or a Retina display MacBook Air.

The possibilities are certainly exciting, but don’t expect all this to happen anytime too soon.
