New details have emerged in relation to Apple's new notebooks, this time concerning the price points at which the devices will enter the market. Also revealed was that an $899 product appearing on Apple's product list is, in fact, a new 24-inch LED Apple Cinema Display, not a low-end MacBook, as rumored.

Earlier today, Apple's product list featured “something” priced at $899, says Gizmodo. According to a couple of Mac-based sources, rumors of a low-end MacBook being in the works are rather a tall story, as the cheap items appear to be 24-inch LED Apple Cinema Displays.

Last week, in a note to clients, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster asserted that Apple's big announcement would concern a revamp of the company's entry-level MacBook line. Aware of Apple's upcoming Town Hall event, the analyst expected the unveilings to include MacBooks starting at $899 or $999. However, sources have been telling folks over at AppleInsider that Apple is readying new displays with DisplayPort connectors and new MageSafe adapters.

The displays are said to look a lot like Apple's aluminum iMacs, only without the large aluminum bottom side. They are described as using a thinner version of iMac's stand, while the black bezel seems to be present in these designs as well. It is likely that the mysteriously-priced $899 Apple product is in fact this new Display, rather than a low-end MacBook, says the report. The $899 product is codenamed K29, while all other products on the price list begin with an "M".
