MacBook RSS problem fixed

In September, Apple acknowledged the "Random Shutdown Syndrome" of the 13-inch MacBooks and they were invaded with faulty products from all over the world. Earlier this month, the number of unsatisfied customers was impressive and a class action lawsuit against the Mac maker was considered.

The problem is that the heatsink can expand during use, and comes into contact with the lead from the thermometer's sensor cable. A short circuit results, and the SMC pulls the plug. Once the system cools down, the heatsink resides and the contact is broken, powerpage.com reported.

Many thought that the best solution to this problem was to have a "recall" of the products and fix them up good. This certainly would have been a serious problem as all of those customers that already purchased a 13-inch MacBook would have been left without the usage of their notebooks.

Regarding this issue, Apple released yesterday new firmware that should fix this repetitive shutdown problem. MacBook SMC Firmware Update 1.1 is an update that improves the MacBook's internal monitoring system and addresses issues with unexpected shutdown. Apple recommends this update for all MacBook systems, including those that received warranty repair.

If your MacBook is running Mac OS X 10.4.6, you won't be able to install the SMC Update until you update to Mac OS X 10.4.8. MacBooks running Mac OS X 10.4.7 will be able to download and install the SMC Update, so it is not essential that you update your system software, although Apple always recommends updating to the latest version of the system software. After this update has completed successfully, your SMC Version will be: 1.4f12, a note from Apple says.

Many think that this is not such a great problem fixer, even if it would work flawlessly and that the damage has already been done as too many customers have been unable to use their MacBooks and those that returned them were left waiting for a long time. However, hopes are still up for the future products that carry the badge "Apple" as this should be an isolated, huge mistake?
