Can we even begin to dream of such a thing?

It is surreal, as in Not Real, OK? Forget about it! Not gonna happen! If You're asking "where can I preorder this?" (as "bump" wrote on flickr.com) the answer is God! Ask God and maybe, just maybe, He can squeeze an optical drive in that delicious, slick, streamlined, sharp piece of fake Apple device.

Don't bother searching the web for clues to its possible development either. You'll most likely come across posts such as Jason O'Grady's of PowerPage from June 15, 2006: "I've been calling for a MacBook nano for a while now and evidence is mounting that Apple is working on such a beast. Although there are many counter points to the argument (no optical drive?) an ultra-notebook/tablet could fill the hole left by the PowerBook 12-inch quite nicely....

Now that Apple took my advice and killed the term PowerBook, what will the Ultra Portable Mac be called? I need names here people - NAMES!"

You can guess what that name is... If you can't, then you're in no position to read Apple news.

Another flickr commenter would have actually bought the thing, he claims, as soon as he could get confirmation that it was real: "A shame that wasn't what was released today. I'd buy that," posted Paul Watson.

There are of course some flaws to the MacBook Nano preview image. Take the keyboard for instance. You can't type using both your hands on that, you can't type using just one hand while holding the device with the other (it'd simply be too awkward), you can't type with your thumbs either because of its size, all this while the actual size of the on-screen keyboard simply doesn't allow for any comfortable means of use.

Had it been a size-adjustable virtual keyboard... Hey, that's not bad actually. Let it be known right now that if a size-adjustable keyboard is to be patented by the Cupertino labs, I want cash!

And let's not even go into that optical drive thing. I'm sure Apple has long dropped the idea of implementing its slim machines with the respective technology.

Specs are just too out of focus and in 'Alien' to be able to decipher, but the image is enough to give nerds wet dreams.
