What's New in this Version

This update is recommended for all MacBook Air computers, and addresses issues with video playback and processor core idling. The company behind your ultra-thin notebook also notes that third-party software that modifies processor operating characteristics (frequency and voltage) is not supported by the update and should be removed before proceeding with the installation.

As usual, Apple notes that the MacBook Air Software Update (1.0) is recommended for all MacBook Air users, while the installation requires Mac OS X 10.5.4 (the latest version of Leopard for the time being) or later.

Apple's MacBook Air, although released quite some time ago, is still touted as the thinnest out there. Currently, Apple's elusive laptop is competing with Lenovo's Centrino-based Thinkpad X300. The key differences between the two laptops are an optical drive, the number of USB 2.0 ports and a user-removable battery.

The MacBook Air comes in two versions. The cheaper model is equipped with a hard disk drive and sports a slower processor, while the expensive version of the laptop is packed with a Solid State Drive (SSD) and boasts higher clock speeds.

As a user of Apple's MacBook Air, you can download the MacBook Air Update 1.0 right here. Double click to mount the update image, double click the package icon, follow the instructions and finally hit "install." Alternatively, you can get the update straight from Apple by clicking on the Apple button and using the Software Update mechanism.
