Bioware has been dishing out hints that a Mac version of their popular MMORPG, Star Wars: The Old Republic, may be coming soon.

Ray Muzyka told Massively, "We know there's a big Mac audience of BioWare fans ... we know that's an important and large audience. And we want to serve that audience."

Co-founder Greg Zeschuk said people are not “yet” able to play the game on a Mac, suggesting a port is in the works, or at least a topic of discussion inside Bioware studios.

Muzyka says fans can technically play the game on a Mac today, but that they need a Windows partition, and admits this wasn’t exactly ideal.

"We've done a lot of Mac ports before of our games. We haven't announced any details yet for The Old Republic, but we know that's an important and large audience," he said.

Referring to the potential Mac port, Zeschuk added: "That's definitely one of the things we're looking at next. We want to get this launch under our belt and everything stabilized and happy, and then we'll look at other platforms, and that's obviously one of the first ones."

Abbreviated as TOR or SWTOR, Star Wars: The Old Republic is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) based in the Star Wars universe.

The game, developed by BioWare Austin and a supplemental team at BioWare Edmonton, was first announced on October 21, 2008, at a media-centric event that required an invitation to attend.

The first platform to be released on was, of course, Microsoft Windows on December 20, 2011 in North America and part of Europe.

People who had preordered Star Wars: The Old Republic gained early access to the game, namely one week before release.

Development is said to have cost BioWare around $300 million, which makes The Old Republic quite possibly the most expensive video game ever created.
