14 DAY TRIAL // Fans of Soldak Entertainment's newly-released RPG title for Mac, Kivi's Underworld, are encouraged to download the latest patch bringing the game to version 1.001. The patch is free to download and install for current users. It provides half a dozen fixes, and a number of enhancements.
The list of changes available with the 1.001 update for Kivi's Underworld reveals that Soldak Entertainment has fixed a mod not being able to put quest text in directly, traps killing a monster and player not getting credit, inability to reload some language-specific stuff when changing language on the fly, getSupportedLanguages having trailing / when files are in zip files, scrollbar on drop down box not working correctly.
Lastly, a couple of plural spellings of some items have been corrected. Other changes are listed below.
• Now if set loc_language incorrectly it will automatically go back to English; • Made cheat_lock public; • Fixed a couple plural spellings of some items; • Added showHotKey to widgets; • Now powerup slots show you the 1,2,3 hotkeys; • Can no longer walk through door at end of Devil's Keyhole.
Kivi's Underworld is an RPG game with serious hack & slash elements. While more of a casual role-playing title, players can either take the role of Kivi, a young lumen warrior who has to fight the unknown, or step in the shoes of any of the 20 playable characters with unique abilities and magic spells.
Gamers are also able to create new adventures, classes, and powerups within the game, or download some from the Internet. They can adventure as one of the 20 character classes against a variety of enemies. Furthermore, players can take on the game as one of Kivi's companions, leaving the safety of the underground cities to rebuild the lost city of Defiance.
“Essentially, you decide which adventure you want to play and then choose which character to play,” said Steven Peeler of Soldak Entertainment, during an interview. “You only have one character available at the very beginning though: Kivi. The other characters become available after you either recruit them in one of your adventures, or unlock them in some other manner,” the developer explained. Peeler added that players would also be able to unlock “different things” as soon as they complete an adventure, like awards, bestiary entries, characters the player recruited during the adventure, and more.
