User-supported Wiki for Snow Leopard-compatible software

Since its debut around Snow Leopard’s launch, the Mac OS X 10.6 Application Compatibility page has been updated to include some 1,600 applications that have been tested under Snow Leopard. As you would imagine, some apps are buggy, others are simply incompatible, while most applications reported on the Wiki are supported on Mac OS X 10.6. Have a look and see if your favs are supported. The web page in question contains a list of applications and their compatibility status with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. Users are urged to collaborate by sharing their experience using Mac apps and by adding software that isn’t already listed (that includes different versions). Unfortunately, due to abuse, registration is now required to edit the list.

Also worth noting is that there are now four categories for tested applications: “Unknown” (for apps that are untested), “OK” (for apps that work fine), “No” (for apps that do not work), and “Warning” (for those with some problems). Additionally, users are encouraged to visit the Discussion Forum to share compatibility information and Snow Leopard tips and tricks.

The text-based editing system allows users to add information on the spot. However, as the admins advise, they should be prepared ahead of time by having their data ready to paste in. Therefore, using TextEdit for writing down one's test results is highly encouraged. In the word-processing app, users must write the information as follows (and by keeping just one graphic icon from the four available in the example):

A Java note recently added by the moderators reveals that, “After Snow Leopard installation, only Java SE 6 remains and is used for all Java applications and applets; previous Java versions (which were present in Leopard and Tiger) are gone. This may cause issues with Java apps/applets that don't work correctly with Java SE 6: these will need to be updated to work with Snow Leopard.”
