Apple Developers have been handed a new test build of the Mac OS X 10.6.5 update to Snow Leopard, the operating system powering Macintosh computers.

Citing people familiar with the software, AppleInsider reveals that Build 10H531 is affected by a single known issue associated with VMWare.

Particularly, USB devices do not work when the Mac is awoken from sleep mode, Apple reportedly signaled.

The seed notes, currently unavailable for posting on our web site, are said to include just a few of the focus areas highlighted in the latest beta, adding several new ones.

According to these people, iCal, Mail, USB Devices, QuickTime, Time Machine and 3D graphics are to be thoroughly verified in this build.

Weighing in at 557MB the delta update was reportedly handed to developers Thursday, August 26.

The seeding comes a mere week after the last build was offered up for download to select Apple developers.

Reportedly weighing in at 558MB in delta form, last week’s build (Mac OS X 10.6.5 10H529) contained six focus areas, no known issues and no listed fixes, according to a report by World of Apple.

MacRumors followed with its own take on the subject, adding that Apple appeared to be moving quickly on Mac OS X 10.6.5.

Indeed, short lists of focus areas and little to no issues known to the developer community indicate that testing is coming along well.

However, Apple’s development cycles are unpredictable, with some incremental updates spending as much as three months in testing. Others, under a month.

The latest maintenance release for Snow Leopard released in mid-June, delivered fixes for MacBook trackpads. addressed issues with Adobe's Creative Suite 3, and included Safari 5, to note some of the most important additions.

In the meanwhile, Apple released a Snow Leopard Graphics Update that addressed issues for systems equipped with NVIDIA cards, following an outcry from the gamer user base.

The problems had stemmed from the very Mac OS X 10.6.4 release.
