Softpedia reported earlier today that Apple had dropped the second Mac OS X 10.6.3 build to developers this week, citing an AppleInsider report. Developers were reportedly asked to focus their testing skills on areas including Mail, images, security certificates and photos. World of Apple has updated its website with the same piece of information, adding a few details on its own, particularly the seed notes for Mac OS X 10.6.3 build 10D572.

Noting that, “Apple yesterday dropped the second build of Mac OS X 10.6.3 to developers,” World of Apple makes an important observation in that, “Mac OS X 10.6.3 build 10D572 is just one increment from the previous build released on Tuesday.” Softpedia could not inform whether or not Build 10D572 had any known issues, with AppleInsider failing to mention this aspect in its report. However, the site does note that OS X 10.6.3 seems very close to its final release.

With the seed notes now made public, Softpedia can inform its readers that Mac OS X 10.6.3 Build 10D572 is plagued by the same Safari 4.0.5 problem with Software Update reportedly noted by Apple in Mac OS X 10.6.3 Build 10D571. Before posting the original seed notes (reproduced below) for the latest Snow Leopard test build, World of Apple outlines that Apple has delivered multiple enhancements and a new list of focus areas, with one known issue being listed.

Included in this update

- Performance improvements for 64-bit Logic; - Addresses compatibility issues with OpenGL-based applications; - Includes changes to QuickTime X that increase reliability, improve compatibility and address security; - Improves printing reliability and compatibility with 3rd party printers; - Addresses an issue that causes background message colors to display incorrectly in Mail when scrolling; - Resolves an issue that prevented files with the # or & in their names from opening in Rosetta; - Resolves an issue that prevented files from copying to Windows shares; - Resolves an issue that caused machines using BTMM and the Bonjour Sleep Proxy to wake unexpectedly; - Resolves an issue with recurring events in iCal when connected to an Exchange server.

Known Issues

- Safari 4.0.5 will be reoffered by Software Update after upgrading to 10D572 from a previous seed.

Focus Areas

- GraphicsDrivers; - Images & Photos; - Mail; - QuickTime; - Security Certificates. Mac OS X 10.6.3 is the third maintenance and security update to Apple’s Snow Leopard operating system. When it is released, Mac users will be able to install the new software either by using the Mac OS X Software Update mechanism, or by downloading a standalone installer.
