The update includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes for the following applications and technologies:
- connecting to wireless networks using the
EAP-FAST protocol
- Apple USB modem reliability
- using OpenType fonts in Microsoft Word
- compatibility with 3rd party USB hubs
- scanner performance
- RAW camera support
- printing documents with Asian language names
- performance of the Translation widget
- broadband network performance
- security updates

The updates and improvements for iCal, iPhoto, Mail and other applications that were said to have been present in the release made available to developers are not included in this update, having been issued as separate updates last week.

The update is available through Software Update and both as a standalone update from 10.4.7 and as a Combo update for both PowerPC and Intel Macs.
