If you're a Mac user and you would like to get one of those new Windows Phone 7 devices that went on sale today, you might find yourself in a strange situation when trying to connect the new phone with your Mac computer, for there is no specific application available for that at the moment.

Owners of Windows-based PCs would have at their disposal the Zune desktop software to connect the new Windows Phone 7 device with the machine.

Mac users on the other hand would still have to wait a little longer before a solution is released for them, though not that long, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Last week, Microsoft confirmed that it would release a sync solution for Mac and Windows Phone 7, but did not detail on the matter.

However, now we learn that a Mac Connector tool for Windows Phone 7 is in the works, and that it would land in beta in the near future.

The tool should be released in public beta before the end of the ongoing year, while the final iteration of this solution would arrive in early 2011.

It appears that this application should not be mistaken for a Zune client for Mac, though Microsoft is expected to deliver such an application in the foreseeable future.

The purpose of this tool is merely the enabling of synchronization between Mac and Windows Phone 7, but it is not a able to offer features similar to Zune.

Unfortunately, no specific release date for this Mac Connector tool for Windows Phone 7 was unveiled, though rumors on a possible October release did emerge.

Microsoft's Head of UK Consumer Windows Phone Marketing, Oded Ran reportedly confirmed a October 24 launch date for the solution, neowin says, but nothing is yet official.

Moreover, the news site says they had the chance to play with the application, and that it is lightweight, only 1.5MB large, enabling Mac users to sync their Windows Phone 7 handsets with iTunes and iPhoto.

The tool is already very stable, and should offer functionality like syncing of music, videos and photos between the said devices.
