Even though the consumer base is, more or less, focused on the newest DirectX 11 graphics card that NVIDIA just released, not all eyes are averted from the rest of the industry. In fact, with NVIDIA making such a significant step towards covering the entire graphics market, it may make sense for the players on other segments to do something similar on their own fronts. Mach Xtreme, for instance, decided it was time to offer a viable competitor to all the SandForce-based SSDs unveiled over the past couple of months. As such, it created the MX JET PRO series of solid state drives.

Solid state drives are becoming more and more popular because they are much faster than hard disks and lack moving parts. The latter feature makes them not only dead silent, but also much more durable. This is why PC suppliers and data center makers already employ them, even in spite of their significantly lower storage capacities. Some of the more popular lines of SSDs have been powered by the ever popular SandForce controllers. Mach Xtreme used the JMF616 from JMicron instead.

The MX JET PRO series models all use the 2.5-inch form factor and have capacities of 64GB (MXSSD2MJTP-64G), 128GB MXSSD2MJTP-128G) and 256GB (MXSSD2MJTP-256G) . The aforementioned controller chip lets them read and write, while communicating via the SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, at up to 270MB/s and 210MB/s, respectively. Furthermore, they have a very high endurance, shown by the MTBF of 1.5 million hours. All are constructed out of MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips and are backed by a 2-year warranty.

Unfortunately, instead of at least offering a hint at when and where these products would show up, their maker decided not to divulge any sort of information about availability. The same can be said about pricing.
