Japanese company Kyocera is less known in Europe and North America, though the handset maker has already launched some smartphones in the United States through various major carriers, including AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless.

One of the smartphones recently announced by Kyocera, the ultra-rugged TORQUE powered by Android will be showcased at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC).

But that won't be the only product presented by the Japanese company at the trade fair. As WindowsCentral points out, Kyocera confirmed it would have a Windows Phone 8.1 prototype at its booth as well.

Unfortunately, not many details are available for the Windows Phone handset. In fact, there isn't any info at all, but if we are to speculate, then perhaps Kyocera will bring an ultra-rugged Windows Phone unit, seeing that the company has already specialized in that kind of devices.

A rugged Windows Phone handset is a possibility

If anyone could launch a decent rugged Windows Phone handset, besides Microsoft, that will certainly be Kyocera, thanks to its long experience. Also, since this will be a prototype, it will probably take a few months to get it out on the market.

Last but not least, Kyocera will also showcase a smartphone with a solar cell built into the screen. We have already reported on this one,

Unlike other mobile phones with solar cells integrated on their chassis, Kyocera's prototype is said to generate power by embedding SUNPARTNER's transparent Wypsis Crystal, which will not impact on the phone's looks or overall design.

Those who want to visit the company's booth at MWC 2015 should know that Kyocera plans to demo multiple concept devices through toughness tests like water submersion and drop tests, as well as future ruggedized technologies.

Also, Kyocera announced that it would demonstrate its own Smart Sonic Receiver speaker-less audio technology at the trade fair too. So stick around for our reports during Mobile World Congress 2015.
