Before HTC and Samsung announced their flagship smartphones, Chinese company Huawei officially unveiled its new phablet called MediaPad X2.

The launch of the MediaPad X1 sequel went a little bit unnoticed due to the big announcements earlier today, but now that the madness is over, we can now take a look at some of the devices that have been launched by other companies as well.

First of all, the MediaPad X2 boasts a huge 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. Huawei calls this a phablet, though at this size you might think it's a small tablet.

Besides the huge screen, the MediaPad X2 offers some other interesting features as well, including a powerful processor, LTE and a huge battery.

For example, Huawei's phablet is equipped with the company's proprietary octa-core Kirin 930 processor clocked at 2GHz. The smartphone also supports LTE Cat.6 (300/50Mbps) and packs 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Two MediaPad X2 models will be launched this year

However, the MediaPad X2 will be available in a premium version too, which will feature 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Both versions will feature microSD card slot for memory expansion and dual-SIM support.

The premium version will be available in rose gold, while the standard model will only be available in titanium silver.

On the back, the huge smartphone boasts a 13-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.

Huawei MediaPad X2 measure 183.5 x 103.9 x 7.3mm and weighs 239g (battery included). Speaking of which, the phablet is powered by a huge 5,000 mAh battery, which is more fit for a tablet than for a smartphone.

Huawei claims the phone's battery should last for around 12 hours of video playback, or 60 hours of music playback, or 15 hours of Internet browsing.

According to Huawei, MediaPad X2 phablet will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system onboard and the company's Emotion UI.

Unfortunately, there's no word on pricing options or availability, but we will keep an eye out for any additional details so stay tuned.

“Following the success of the Huawei MediaPad X1, and having inherited the signature feature of our large screen design, the Huawei MediaPad X2 represents our faith and commitment in creating better quality products with our technology and innovation,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group.
