Huawei is one of the companies that could wait to arrive at MWC 2014. Well, it seems they are the first to kick-start the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona and as expected, have already announced a duo of tablets.

After being heavily leaked in the past few weeks, the Huawei MediaPad X1 is finally here and is called the lightest 7-incher in the bunch, says PhoneArena.

This tablet with phoning capabilities has been hailed at some sort of iPad mini killer and comes bundling a 7-inch display with a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels).

Despite the big display, the tablet manages to remain thin and sleek, boasting a 7.18mm / 0.28 inches thickness, so even if the device seems to be too big for a phone, at least it has a slender body. The MediaPad X1 is powered by Huaweí’s own 1.6GHz quad-core (HiSilicon 910 Kirin) processor combined with 2GB of RAM.

Other specs include a capable 13MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, a 5MP front-facing camera, microSD card slot and a 5000 mAh battery Huawei says should last users for a number of days.

Oddly enough for a new tablet, Huawei has opted to install Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board, but I hope the MediaPad X1 will get the Android 4.4 KitKat update soon.
