As expected, Huawei has taken the wrap off its Ascend G6 mid-range Android smartphone. The press render of the handset leaked a few days ahead of the official release, so we already knew it would be announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 trade fair.

However, the Chinese company offered more details on Ascend G6's price tag and availability, as well as the smartphone's full specs sheet.

“HUAWEI Ascend G6 4G is a stylish, colorful, and lightning fast smartphone designed to break down barriers. With its handy 4G LTE connectivity, easy-to-use interface and dynamic cameras offering a multitude of photographic opportunities, Huawei is delivering on our promise to ‘Make it Possible’ for more people around the world,” said Richard Yu, CEO, Huawei Consumer Business Group.

The smartphone ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, along with Huawei's Emotion UI 2.0 on top.

Specs-wise, the Ascend G6 is quite decent for its price. The smartphone sports a 4.5-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 245 ppi (pixel density).

The device is only 7.85mm thin and weighs 115g (battery included). It provides 4G support (150Mbps) and features Huawei's stylish “double C” that became popular with the Ascend P6 smartphone.

On the inside, the handset is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8Gb of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Huawei Ascend G6 will be available in multiple color options including black with light gunmetal grey or rose gold highlights, or in white with pink or champagne gold. The 3G version of Ascend G6 will be available in black, white, pink, gold or blue.

According to Huawei, the Ascend G6 will be available for purchase in Q1, while the Ascend G6 4G will go on sale from April for around €250 ($345) off contract.
