As expected, Samsung announced the upcoming availability of its Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet, which might or might not be the spiritual successor of the Galaxy Note II.

For the time being, it’s unclear whether this is Galaxy Note 10.1’s little sister or Samsung plans to make it the Galaxy Note II successor, thus skipping the Galaxy Note III.

All in all, Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is more of a marketing move as the slate does not really feature anything innovative in terms of specs.

The slate is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos processor and packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD memory card.

The 8-inch display supports 800 x 1280 pixels resolution. There’s also a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will be available soon for around 500 USD / 380 EUR, depending on the location.
