Chinese mobile phone maker ZTE was expected to bring a new range of handsets at this year’s Mobil World Congress in Barcelona, and the company did not disappoint.

Among the smartphones that we had the change to see at ZTE’s stand, we can count the ZTE Skate Acqua and the ZTE Skate Kis.

The new devices will arrive on shelves with Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, while featuring single-core application processors.

The ZTE Skate Acqua features a large 4.0-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 480 x 800 pixels resolution and support for 16M colors.

Its 1 GHz Scorpion application processor from Qualcomm is complemented by 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space.

In terms of connectivity, the phone packs HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (with mobile hotspot capabilities), Bluetooth, microUSB, built-in GPS receiver, and Stereo FM radio with RDS.

The handset also sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper, with auto focus and HD video recording capabilities, and a Li-Ion 1600 mAh battery.

ZTE Skate Kis packs a smaller, 3.5-inch touchscreen display, along with an 800 MHz application processor, and 256 MB of RAM. It also includes 200 MB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot to expand it.

The new device will hit the shelves with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, along with Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, Bluetooth, microUSB v2.0, and GPS receiver.

On the back, it will feature a 3.15-megapixel photo snapper capable of recording videos too. It won’t sport a secondary camera when launched.

As you can see from the specs list of these devices, ZTE is set to have them available for the mid and low segments of the market. The company hasn’t yet unveiled specific info on their availability and pricing.
