14 DAY TRIAL // Adobe Photoshop Touch is now available for iPad 2 users through the iTunes App Store. It offers core Photoshop features, as well as new capabilities for creating and sharing in an app custom-built for tablets, Adobe said at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today.
As part of the Adobe Touch family of apps, Photoshop Touch allows users to combine multiple photos into layered images, make edits and apply professional effects. Relevant examples are scattered across the left side of this article (click the images to enlarge them).
A Scribble Selection Tool allows users to extract objects in an image, while Refine Edge (a Photoshop-exclusive technology) allows users to capture hard-to-select areas with soft edges when making selections.
The app boasts social ties via Facebook and Google Image Search.
Photoshop touch requires iPad 2 and iOS 5. The app is not supported on any other iOS device, and that includes the original iPad (first-generation). It costs $9.99 in the US App Store and €7,99 in European App Stores.

David Wadhwani, senior vice president and general manager, Digital Media Business Unit, Adobe, commented, “People will be amazed with what they can create on the iPad using Photoshop Touch. Photoshop Touch combines the magic of Photoshop and its core features with the convenience of a tablet, bringing image-editing power to the fingertips of millions of people.”
In addition to announcing Photoshop Touch, Adobe also confirmed the upcoming release of several new iPad apps, such as: Collage, for moodboards; Debut, for presenting and reviewing creative work; Ideas, for sketching; Kuler, for exploring color themes; and Proto for website and mobile app prototyping.
These apps will all become available in the iTunes App Store in the coming months, said Adobe.
