Today, mobile phone maker HTC Corporation officially announced the launch of a nice range of new smartphones running under Google's Android operating system, including the high-end HTC Incredible S

handset, which should prove the most appealing phone in the newly revamped HTC lineup.

The unveiling took place at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and Softpedia editors present at the event managed to play with the device in question.

The mobile phone sports a bright 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800 resolution) Super LCD display which can deliver vivid, crisp images for a great mobile experience, and a 1 GHz application processor inside for increased performance levels.

The specifications list of this device includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus dual LED flash, and 720p HD video recording, as well as a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video calling.

The 1GHz processor is complemented by 768 MB of RAM, and 1.1 GB of internal memory (a microSD memory card slot enables users expand the available storage with up to 32GB of external memory).

As expected, the smartphone includes all of the usual connectors, such as 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, or the micro-USB (5-pin micro-USB 2.0) port, as well as Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, or 3G connectivity (14.4 Mbps download speeds and 5.76 Mbps upload speeds).

The new HTC Incredible S should arrive on shelves with GPS receiver, a 1450 mAh Lithium-ion battery inside, enhanced multimedia features, G-Sensor, Digital compass, Proximity sensor, and Ambient light sensor.

Running under Google's Android operating system with HTC's Sense UI on top, the device would also provide users with access to various mobile services, as well as with the possibility to download and install applications via the Android Market.

The new device can be considered by far the nicest smartphone that HTC announced today, both when it comes to design and performance capabilities.

“Showing what can be achieved when engineers and designers work together to raise the bar for mobile phone design, the HTC Incredible S smartphone features a stunning, contoured body that highlights the internal hardware components of the device,” HTC notes in the official announcement.
