Fujitsu, a Japanese leading manufacturer and service provider, and AuthenTec, global leader in providing fingerprint authentication sensors and solutions, are showcasing the first fingerprint
enabled world-phone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (11 - 14 February).

Fujitsu FOMA F905i is the new handset and it's a 3G / GSM device that can operate in 155 countries and regions around the globe. The smartphone leverages on the AES1710 fingerprint sensor from AuthenTec, a small, low-cost and highly integrated sensor that has a durable finish which enables its placement on the outside of the handset. AES1710 is based on AuthenTec's patented TruePrint technology, the single solution on the market that can read below the surface of the skin for fingerprints. This unique approach enables the sensor to read basically every fingerprint, anytime.

Measuring 108 x 50 x 21 mm and weighing 138 grams, Fujitsu FOMA F905i sports a wide 3.2 inch display and brings mobile TV capabilities as well as many other features.

"We are pleased to offer this new smart phone model, which can not only be used virtually anywhere in the world, but offers cell phone users convenient security via an AuthenTec fingerprint sensor," said Hideyuki Saso, president of Mobile Phone Group from Fujitsu Limited. "Many more AuthenTec-enabled models will be introduced in the future, offering peace of mind to our subscribers through convenient fingerprint security which protects the phone, its stored information, and its mobile payment capabilities."

The AuthenTec sensors offer Power of Touch features, including security, personalization and convenience. Fingerprint-enabled handsets are popular in Japan (that has more than 100 million mobile users), where they are used for m-commerce, online banking, as well as for securing the device in the event of theft or loss.

"Fujitsu built its wireless market leadership in Japan by offering outstanding quality, innovation and technical leadership in their mobile phone products, and their newest offering of fingerprint-enabled world phones is no exception," said Art Stewart, AuthenTec's vice president of Wireless Products. "Fujitsu has once again recognized the security and convenience that an AuthenTec fingerprint sensor can bring to the mobile phone user and the mobile payment experience, and we are pleased to support the rollout of their newest fingerprint-enabled models this year."

Fujitsu FOMA F905i is currently available only via NTT DoCoMo, the largest mobile carrier in Japan, in white, black, blue and red. However, since it can work all over the world, the phone will probably be offered by operators from Europe and North America too.

I am very happy to see this new technological break throuh, I am an application developer and this cellphone will really do with the new application I am developing.
I need to get the prices and the catecories of that cellphone for further feasibility study.

If the prices is not beyoud comman man affordabilty in my country, I believe we will order millions of this new device. Or we may even enter a joint venture agreement with the inventor company.

waiting to hear from you!
