Rita Ora has had a very successful career in music so far but she’s not about to stop here: in February 2015, she will be making her big screen debut in one of the hottest and most anticipated releases of recent years, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” the adaptation of the first of three original novels by E.L. James.

This movie is not Rita’s first because she had an uncredited part in “Fast & Furious 6” as well, but it’s considered her debut because she will be getting more screentime. Hopefully, this supporting role will help her make the transition to acting.

She plays Mia Grey, the sister of the damaged and oh-so-fascinating Mr. Christian Grey. Speaking with MTV News on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards 2014, Rita pled with fans and the world at large to just stop judging the film before it was out. She also revealed she’d seen her scenes already.

You can see her interview in the video below.

“I’ve seen some. I've definitely seen my parts. I'm literally sworn to secrecy, but what I can say is expect something that would really make it worth your while,” Rita promises.

“Doing the movie was probably one of the best things ever, being in Vancouver, getting out of the music and just making it work was really good. I did like eight auditions, so I thought I would never get it. It was incredible that it worked out,” she continues.

The funny thing is that she initially approached producers because she wanted to do a song for the soundtrack for the film, but they ended up considering her for a supporting part.

That Rita is asking people to hold off judgment on “Fifty Shades of Grey” until it’s out is not that surprising, considering the kind of buzz surrounding the project. The novels were a hit with the female segment and rumors about a big screen adaptation have been around for a very long time.

When everything came together to shoot it, fans were not pleased with the casting choices, which included Jamie Dornan for Christian and Dakota Johnson for Anastasia Steele. As if that, having fans turn on the project, weren’t bad enough, the project was also ridiculed a lot with each new set of paparazzi shots that emerged online.

Say what you will about James’ books, but they’re not literature. In fact, they’re called a certain way for a good reason, because the focus is not on the creative aspect. Making a movie based on them is, to many, a certain recipe for a box office trainwreck, but Rita doesn’t seem to see things in this light.
