At last night's MTV Movie Awards 2012, fans probably got their first look at the super-secretive “Star Trek 2” and chances are they didn't even notice it.

Joel McHale appeared in a sketch in which he played archery trainer Lester Boonshaft. Not only did Boonshaft teach Jennifer Lawrence how to use a bow and arrow, but he was also supposed to train actors in “Star Trek 2” to do the same.

Unfortunately, director J.J. Abrams refused to work with him and cut the scene from the movie altogether.

MTV points out that, while he spoke, an image in the background – his computer screensaver – probably offered a first glimpse at his upcoming film.

“While the frame remained mostly out of sight behind Abrams, the screen behind the director clearly shows a character with his or her face covered by some kind of mask, one that didn't appear anywhere in the previous 'Star Trek' film,” MTV writes.

“Since we don't have much context for the shot, it's difficult to say who might be under the mask, but from the looks of it, the character doesn't appear to be a member of Starfleet,” adds the same media outlet.

Then again, it could have been just a screensaver.
