This year’s producer takes on Pattinson, Lautner and the Smiths

This year’s MTV Movie Awards opened big with a special message from none other than the producer of the show, Hollywood mega-mogul Les Grossman. As we know from older promos, Les is the man behind Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Tom Cruise – and he’s never playing, as his mission is to make more money than anyone else in the world.

Les, of course, doesn’t really exist: he’s a character from 2008’s hit “Tropic Thunder,” played by Tom Cruise in a fat, bald and hairy suit. He’s the foul-mouthed manager who, in the promos for the MTV Movie Awards, made Pattinson wash his hair with dirt before attending and got Lautner to skip his best friend’s wedding, where he should have served as a best man. He even showed Tom Cruise how to do the famous hallway dance in “Risky Business,” suggesting that he take off his pants if he wants to have a successful career.

At the actual ceremony, Les gets to say why he’s producing the show and what he plans to accomplish with it. He also promises Pattinson and Lautner even bigger careers than what they have now, which also means more money, more girls and more of whatever else they’re enjoying at the moment. Grossman then moves to instruct Jaden Smith, Will Smith’s 11-year-old son, about what it takes to make it in the industry. Apparently, that is the ability to break Grossman’s arm as his father, Will, looks on.

“With five awards for ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon,’ zilch for ‘Avatar,’ visually insane dance numbers, gut-busting parodies and so much more, the 2010 MTV Movie Awards made for a wildly hilarious, frequently emotional and shockingly vulgar night. The evening kicked off with media mogul Les Grossman, who lived up to his fiery reputation by pushing popular actors like Will Smith and Michael Cera down some surprising new career paths. One such idea was ‘Bad-[expletive] Cops,’ a police-themed action adventure starring ‘Twilight’ leading men Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner,” MTV News says of the opening message.

From there on, it only got better and better, the introduction culminating with Les’ uniquely worded way of wishing viewers a fun 2 hours. Below is the video, see for yourselves. *Some discretion is advised as the footage contains language that might offend.
