MTV Makes Room for Jackasser and Wrestling

The network refuses to bow to competition and changes the entire line-up

The Internet can beat up almost any television network and MTV learned this the hard way. In a move that is meant to shuffle the entire line-up, MTV, once the leader in terms of teenage audience, is bringing two brand new original shows to keep our interest alive.

Slowly but surely, the network Music Television (at the beginning focused only on music videos and news) is becoming one of biggest reality shows producers, with at least half a dozen new series being made each season. And the fun part is that they are all successful, mostly for being able to combine both aspects that interest the targeted audience: music and celebrities.

Now, seeing that the 10 P.M timeslot is becoming way too competitive, the MTV executives have decided to go a step beyond and start making people tune in an hour later. So, for January, we are set to have two brand new shows, one a sort of pre-'Newlyweds' and the other one focusing on wrestling.

'Bam's Unholy Union' will center on the months prior to Bam Margera's wedding to his fiancée Missy and the way they and their families learn to live with each other. This is the skateboard pro's third show on MTV, after he successfully starred in 'Jackass' and 'Viva la Bam'.

The second series, called 'Wrestling Society X', will be 'the greatest, dirtiest and most dangerous entertainment program that throws out the glam of wrestling', as a spokesperson for the network described it. Each episode will feature semi-professional wrestlers and a surprise guest, a musician.

But there is yet more to come: for January, MTV has lined up an entire series of new shows, each of them appealing to a different segment of the audience. These are as follows: 'My Super Sweet 16' (debuting January 15), 'Engaged & Underage' (January 22), the second season of "The Hills" (January 15) and Jennifer Lopez's new show "DanceLife" (January 15). All that's left for us to do is to just sit back and relax.
