A new affordable Android-based device went official in India on the network of MTS (or Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited), in the form of MTS Blaze 5.0.

The new mobile phone was made official with pretty decent hardware specifications, yet its main selling point will be the data bundle that the wireless carrier has announced for it.

All those who will grab the phone will enjoy no less than 100,000MB of free data with it, which is valid for one year on the first recharge of Rs. 198 ($3.3/€2.4), as mobigyaan reports.

MTS has already proved that it was focused on providing users with a great data experience, and the new device comes in line with that, it seems.

The new MTS Blaze 5.0 arrives on the market with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution, while being powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.

Moreover, the mobile phone sports 1GB of RAM inside, along with 4GB of internal memory. On the back, the handset features an 8-megapixel camera with support for HD video recording, complemented by a VGA front camera for video calling.

“Smartphones today are one of the biggest drivers of data consumption in the country,” Leonid Musatov, Chief Marketing & Sales Officer – MTS India, said.

“Given this reality, MTS India is focused on introducing products and services that are built for a fantastic data experience. Our latest smartphone – Blaze 5.0 sports a 5 inch screen, which is an ideal screen size for multimedia and mobile gaming.”

The new device is powered by a 2500mAh battery (which should offer up to 9.5 hours of talk time) and also sports the entire range of usual connectivity features, such as 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Moreover, it comes with a built-in GPS receiver.

On the downside, the new smartphone runs under the older Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. However, considering its hardware specifications, it won’t come as a surprise if MTS decides to update it to a newer platform iteration.

MTS Blaze 5.0 was made official with a price tag of Rs. 10,999 ($183/€135) attached to it, which makes it a great competitor for handsets such as Moto G, Nokia X, and others.

The wireless carrier plans on making the new mobile phone available in all 9 circles that it operates in, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, UP West, West Bengal and Kolkata.
