Calibre 0.8.70 has been released. It may look like a minor build, but it carries a lot of punch as it adds support for MTP (media transfer protocol), which allows detection of Google’s tablet and Amazon’s freshly launched Kindle Fire HD.

However, this will be possible only on Windows operating systems starting Vista and on Linux.

The developer also created an installer for the portable version of the application that lets you simply point to the location you want the files installed. It integrates support for multiple libraries created inside the 'Calibre Portable' location.

The current release features a set of repairs as well; it fixes problems with AZW3 output not being properly indexed or triggering an error when the input document contains embedded fonts of less than 1040 bytes. The full changelog is available here.
