Alec Baldwin has somewhat of a reputation of a rage monster, with his temper always getting the best of him in the presence of the paparazzi. The same happened the other day, when he lashed out at a reporter in NYC, calling him the F-word anti-gay slur.

Though he initially denied ever using that word, saying he’d said “fathead” and was misheard, Baldwin is now suffering the consequences of his highly flammable temper, because MSNBC has temporarily suspended his talk show Up Late.

The announcement comes from the actor himself, in a statement up on the official website, which also brings an apology for causing offense by the use of the slur.

“I would like to address the comments I made this past week. I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have — and for that I am deeply sorry. Words are important. I understand that, and will choose mine with great care going forward,” he writes.

“What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand Up Late will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week. I want to apologize to my loyal fans and to my colleagues at MSNBC — both for my actions and for distracting from their good work. Again, please accept my apology,” Baldwin continues.

That wasn’t the only run-in with the paparazzi he’d had this week either: in fact, he had several similar outbursts, as paps swarmed him as he was going in and coming out of his apartment building with his wife Hilaria and their child, in a bid to ask him questions about the recent stalker trial.

The judge sided with Baldwin in the case, ruling that the woman he once had a brief fling with (but who claimed there’d been more) had actually stalked him by repeatedly showing up at his place and calling him at all hours of the day and night.
