Out of the top ten search providers in the U.S. market, Microsoft's MSN/Windows Live Search is the only one with a negative Year on Year growth. And a consistent negative YOY. MSN/Windows Live Search has lost some 8% of the search share on the U.S. Search engine market. In October, only 538,594,000 searches were made via MSN/Windows Live Search. With a little over half a million searches, Microsoft has dropped down to 8.8% search share in October from 9.6% in September.

In this context, all the searches previously entered into MSN/Windows Live Search have been redistributed among the other search providers. And all the other players on the market performed positively and outperformed MSN/Windows Live search. Google still retains the lead with in excess of three billion searches, a market share of 49.6% and a YOY of 23%.

Yahoo Search is runner up with 1.5 billion searches, and YOY of 30% and a market share of 23.9%. AOL Search has jumped 1.9% to a total share of 6.2%, and is in fifth position with 375,045,000 searches.
