While SoapBox - Microsoft's equivalent of YouTube - is still in limited beta, the MSN Video "Arrested Development" feels like a market test. Should we expect similar offerings on SoapBox? It depends
on either the ad supported initiative with "Arrested Development" proves not only lucrative, but also a traffic magnet.

The Emmy award-winning comedy "Arrested Development" has debuted on MSN. Microsoft will stream the sitcom's content via an ad supported initiative. In this context, the fans will be able to watch all the 53 episodes of the three seasons of the show free of charge.

"We're thrilled to present this critically acclaimed show to the MSN audience along with exclusive online content for the ultimate 'Arrested Development' fans," said Rob Bennett, general manager of Entertainment and Video Services for MSN. "We've created a number of innovative new features to enhance the video experience for 'Arrested Development,' and will lead the industry in improving the overall experience for watching long-form video content online."

The first five episodes of the show have already been made available and the Redmond Company will add three more episodes on a weekly basis starting on December 15. Microsoft has also added a new MSN Video player (which looks surprisingly similar to the one on SoapBox) and that is adapted to streaming long-form video.

Microsoft will also deliver additional content to the 53 episodes to make the offer even more attractive. "Future additional content will include deleted scenes, blooper reels and related DVD content. Interactive features such as message boards, cast information, fan areas, blogging helpers, and subscription options for newsletters and RSS feeds will collectively provide a deeper community experience for fans of the show," revealed the Redmond Company in a press release.
