At the end of last week, MSN wrote yet a new page in the already too active history of online services, by the official launch of MSN Mobile Messaging, a solution that allows the users to send text messages from a PC to a mobile phone. The service is not free of charge, but the prices vary depending on the quantity of purchased messages.
Thus, for purchasing
a package of 25 SMSs, the price of a message is 16 eurocents, for the 50 SMSs package, the cost of a message reaches 14 eurocents, and the most generous offer includes 150 short messages for 13 eurocents per message.
In order to use this service, the Internet surfers must have at least MSN Messenger 7 installed, and the short texts can be sent to any mobile phone operator and to any user, regardless of the fact that he owns or not a MSN Messenger subscription.
Quite obviously, the services are not active worldwide, and only the French, British, Germans, Italians, Spanish, Belgians, Australians and Americans will benefit from the luxury of sending SMSs via Messenger.
From the chat program interface, a new mobile contact is created, the telephone number in international format is inserted, and the rest of the procedure resembles the one used for sending a chat message. An advantage of using this method for sending SMSs is that it allows the user to keep a much clearer inventory of the messages than in the cases of sending messages from one cell phone to another or using a similar online service.
