No site is safe from the hackers' attacks, not even the ones as big as MSN which should have better security barriers.
Microsoft admitted Thursday that hackers have booby-trapped the Korean MSN site to steal the users' personal information.
According to the company's
statements, the malicious code placed on the www.msn.co.kr site at the beginning of the week was eliminated by Microsoft's experts.
MSN Korea is a special case from the other MSN portals, the servers being in the custody of a Korean company and not in Microsoft's yard.
And it seems the one to be blamed for this attack is this Korean company which didn't apply the security patches on time. Regarding this problem, Sohn, a MSN director, said: "When stuff is in our data center, it's easier to control.
We're pretty maniacal about getting servers patched and keeping our customers safe and protected."
Still, this is not an excuse considering the millions of dollars invested by Microsoft in the improvements of security systems. Maybe the giant from Redmond should choose his partners more carefully to avoid being the laughing stock of the Internet.
