MSI's proprietary Twin Frozr II graphics card cooler managed to find a place in the hearts of overclockers everywhere, so recently the Taiwanese company has started selling this cooler as a standalone item on the Japanese market.
Until now, the only way to get your hands on a Twin Frozr II
cooler was to buy an MSI graphics card equipped with such a solution.
This meant that users who already bought a video card produced by any other company didn't have any other option than to purchase a new, similar product, this time built by MSI.
However, this situation has recently changed, as the company has started retailing the Twin Frozr II as a standalone cooling solution in the Japanese market.
The version that MSI retails at this time is compatible with all
graphics cards based on the GF100 and GF110 cores, including the GTX 465, GTX 470, GTX 480, GTX 570, and GTX 580, provided that they use Nvidia's standard printed circuit board layout.
As for the cooler itself, this measures 251.9x100.9x35mm, weights 520g and it uses a nickel-plated copper base that includes five heat pipes. Depending on their position, these can measure either 6mm or 8mm in diameter.
The heat drawn by the five heat pipes is then directed to a large aluminum fin stack, which is ventilated by two high-airflow PWM controlled fans.
In Japan, the
MSI Twin Frozr II graphics card cooler is priced at ¥5,980, which translates into about $73 US.
Right now, we don't know if MSI plans to release this cooler outside of Japan, but, according to
Expreview, the Taiwanese company wants to introduce a wider series of Twin Frozr II coolers to accommodate different models of graphics cards.
