After many years of multi-GPU configurations being synonymous with Crossfire or SLI setups, Lucidlogix finally managed to bring about the accomplishment of one of the oldest consumer dreams, namely that of true multi-GPU installations that are not restricted by the cards' manufacturer or model. Soon after it was finished, the SoC was adopted by MSI, which used it to create the first non-compromising multi-GPU-supporting motherboard, the Big Bang Fuzion.

Thanks to the Hydra system-on-chip, consumers are now able to create a situation where ATI and NVIDIA cards cooperate instead of compete, for bringing about that which they both are meant to do, which is provide a good graphics performance. Until recently, however, there was one technology not supported by the mainboard, namely DirectX 11.

This meant that, while end-users who owned this product could play any game, they could not enjoy their highest graphical quality. But the latest motherboard driver (1.5.106) has come forth and remedied this issue; thus, titles like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, Dirt 2, BattleForge and Metro 2003, among others, will now have no difficulty in flaunting their wealth of detail.

For end-users seeking a reminder of the motherboard's specifications, the MSI Big Bang Fuzion is built for socket LGA 1156 processors, has four DDR-2300 (OC) memory slots, three PCI Express x 16 slots for graphics, two PCI slots, ten SATA 2 ports and one IDE connector. As for connectivity and I/O, there is Gigabit Ethernet, two eSATA connectors and a 6+Coaxial SPDIF/Optical SPDIF, among other things. Sound capabilities will be provided by the bundled QuantumWave PCIe x1 sound card.

Owners of the MSI Big Bang Fuzion Hydra 200-enabled motherboard may download the newest driver from the official website. Those seeking a greater insight into the mainboard itself and its complete feature set may visit the official product page.
