Still needs some work done

This probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise to many technology enthusiasts out there, but almost every motherboard maker has already finished at least one version of their upcoming X58-enabled Core i7-ready desktop platforms. Still, from time to time, it is nice to see what products we should be expecting from some of the major companies, such as MSI.

Details about MSI’s X58 lineup have already surfaced on the Internet, as early as the end of September, but it now appears that we have the actual, final list of the three Core i7 motherboards that the Taiwanese manufacturer is expected to release, once Intel takes the veil off its next-generation desktop platform.

Basically, on November 17, MSI will put out three motherboard models that will be equipped with the high-end chipset, namely the X58 Platinum, Eclipse SLI and Eclipse+. The first two have already been finished, and have also made the headlines and some of the more recent reviews, while the third is apparently still being worked on.

The last model, the Eclipse+ has also been dubbed the Uber Overclocker, and will be the only version of the three motherboards to be featured with a built-in NVIDIA NF200. Basically, this will be the only difference between the company’s Eclispe SLI and the flagship Eclipse+. But fear not as, thanks to the specifications of Intel’s next-generation X58 chipset, this board will also be able to provide its users with both CrossFire X and NVIDIA SLI technologies. As a side note, it is, in fact, interesting to see how a product from Intel will bring together, under the same chassis, other products from all three major chip makers, namely Intel, AMD and NVIDIA.

We are still to see what cooling technology MSI will integrate on its high-end Eclipse+, a feature that is likely to become public knowledge once the company officially takes the wraps off all three models, on November 17.
