Taiwanese manufacturer MSI has just released the specifications of its latest ultra-portable computer systems, the Wind U123 and the two ultra-slim X-Slim PCs, the X320 and the X340. According to the company, the new Wind netbook now provides users with options for 3G/WiMAX solutions, while the X340 is among the first portable PCs to boast Intel's latest CULV platform, delivering performance in a small and light form factor. In addition, the company announced that all these new systems would be on display at CTIA Wireless 2009.

As you might expect, the new MSI Wind U123 netbook has been equipped with Intel's Atom N280 processor, running at 1.66GHz. The system boasts a 10.2-inch WSVGA LED display and comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 160GB 2.5-inch hard drive, 4-in-1 card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, a D-Sub connector and even a TV antenna connector. The netbook can be equipped with either a 6-cell or a 9-cell battery pack and the MSI EasyFace identification software, designed for security purposes. According to the latest details from MSI, this is the company's first netbook to boast a 3GB solution.

Two of this year's most significant portable computer systems are the X320 and X340, which have been designed as slim and lightweight portable PCs, based on Intel's mobile platform. While the X320 is based on an Intel X530 1.6GHz processor, the X340 boasts Intel's ULV SU3500 CPU. Both systems are equipped with a 13.4-inch (1366x768) display and ship with Windows Vista, a 1.3MP webcam, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, 3 USB ports and a 2-in-1 card reader.

The difference between the two is that the X340 is based on the Intel GS45+ICH9M-SFF chipset, featuring integrated GMA4500MHD graphics and support for 4GB of memory, while the X320 boasts the integrated Intel GMA500 graphics and up to 2GB of DDR2 memory. Both systems are equipped with 2.5-inch hard drives, 802.11 b/g/n and Gigabit Ethernet LAN. The X320 is the only model to provide an option for 3G/WiMAX connectivity.
