MSI, a leading Taiwanese vendor of personal computer systems, has recently announced the debut of its new X-Slim X430 ultra-thin laptop, specifically designed to take advantage of the performance and features of AMD's second generation ultra-thin platform. The new machine has been featured with a 14-inch display and provides users with an alternative to the other Intel CULV-based ultrathin laptops that are currently available on the market.

Inside MSI's new X-Slim X430 there's the AMD RS780MN and SB710 chipset combo, which enables the system to support the new Athlon Neo X2 processor, combined with integrated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200 graphics chip. The machine also offers support for up to 2GB of DDR2 667MHz memory, a large-capacity, 2.5-inch 320GB hard drive and all of the extras that come along with a standard, ultra-thin laptop.

The X430 features a built-in 1.3MP webcam, 2-in-1 memory card reader, 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity and optional Bluetooth, Gigabit LAN, HDMI port, 2 USB 2.0 ports and an external DVD Super-Multi or optional Blu-ray optical drive, and a choice for a 4-cell or an 8-cell battery pack.

Moreover, the unit is also equipped with MSI's own ECO Engine technology, which enables users to select from 5 different power management modes, including Gaming, Movie, Presentation, Document, or Turbo Battery. The 14-inch screen features a 16:9 LED backlit display with a brightness of 220 cd/m2.

The X-Slim X430 weights in at about 1.5kg, with battery and can also be configured with a larger-capacity 500GB hard drive. Unfortunately, the Taiwanese company hasn't revealed any details regarding the availability and pricing of its new X-Slim model. However, the machine might soon hit the retail channel, as MSI will most likely want to benefit from the shopping frenzy in the holiday season.
