MSI launched a new portable computer system today, part of the company's extensive line of portable gaming PCs. The new G-series laptop is dubbed GX403 and is designed to leverage Intel's latest mobile platform, Centrino 2, in a convenient and portable form factor of 14.1 inches. It packs MSI's unique ECO engine, enabling users to
choose from up to 5 different working modes, which tells the system to deliver more performance or a better battery life.

The new GX403 is based on an Intel PM45 and ICH9M chipset combo and is powered by a Centrino 2 processor. In addition to the latest Intel mobile platform, the GX403 is also equipped with one of the latest graphics solutions on the market, namely NVIDIA's GT 130M graphics processor, featuring 256MB of GDDR3 memory. Additionally, the GX403 can support a maximum of 4GB of DDR2 memory, a 500GB SATA hard drive, 4-in-1 memory card reader, and a DVD Super-Multi optical drive.

One of the main features of the new MSI gaming laptop is the exclusive ECO Engine Power Management System, which enables the computer user to select from up to five different working modes, including Gaming mode, Movie mode, Presentation mode, Office mode and Turbo Battery mode. Each of these five is meant to provide performance support for gaming, multimedia, presentation and office applications, while the last one on the list is meant to reduce the system's power consumption.

Additional features of the GX403 include 2 HD Audio stereo speakers, wireless 802.11 b/g/n and optional Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 USB ports, D-Sub port and even one E-SATA/USB combo port. The system is equipped with a 1.3MP webcam and offers choices for 6-cell and 9-cell battery packs. Equipped with a 6-cell battery, the GX403 is said to weigh 2.2kg. Unfortunately, MSI did not provide any details regarding the pricing and availability of the system.
