Pricing and availability still a mystery

MSI unveiled a slew of notebook over the years, some of which actually went all the way and practically smashed through whatever the time's conventions described as “high-end”. Granted, this doesn't often happen, especially knowing that competing companies also have the same goal in mind. Still, getting close to that goal comes easier than actually achieving it. MSI's GT660 high-end mobile PC appears poised to either meet it or come close enough.

The MSI GT660 is practically described as the greatest notebook that the company has ever made, and the hardware inside it definitely seems to support that statement. At the heart of it lies the mighty Intel Core i7-720QM central processing unit. This chip is backed up by up to a full 12GB of RAM and two hard disk drives, with a total capacity of up to 1.2TB. Additionally, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 285M graphics, with 1GB of VRAM, will be sure to fully utilize the 16-inch LED-backlit LCD display.

Naturally, the connectivity and I/o options of the machine are just as complete and high as one would expect. In addition to a DVD or Blu-ray drive, MSI threw in a 4-in-1 card reader, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet and 1.3 megapixel webcam. This is just the beginning, however, as the outfit even went as far as adding a pair of USB 3.0 ports. This will enable current and future external storage units, among other things, to operate at their full potential. Finally, a HDMI output is present, as is a 9-cell battery.

It should probably be mentioned that the GT660 also comes with a number of design advantages. For one, a black film print coating is enhanced by ruby red LED lights. What really consolidates its status as a gaming and multimedia powerhouse, however, is the Dynaudio surround-sound technology and the TDE+(Turbo Drive Engine+). That latter overclocks the CPU and GPU when required. Unfortunately, this Windows 7 Home Premium or ultimate 64bit-loaded product hasn't received a price or a release date yet.
