GTX 465 practically confirmed

Though official announcements don't really come in a very wide variety, there are many more ways for a product to be revealed ahead of launch, whether through leaked roadmaps, unofficial reports, wild rumors, accurate (or inaccurate) speculation and even mere coincidence. What is just as interesting is that such reports don't necessarily originate with the manufacturer of the device itself. One of MSI's most recent 'slips' is this type of leak.

Fudzilla has, once again, somehow managed to get hold of some pictures that, while not exactly revelatory in terms of specifications, accomplish two important things. One is to reveal that Micro-Star International has every intention of giving the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 400 Series, with DirectX 11 support, the twin Frozr II treatment. The other revelation concerns a certain other report that emerged not long ago.

NVIDIA is supposedly getting ready to show off its third Fermi adapter, known as the GeForce GTX 465. Supposedly benchmarked, this video board should be formally added during Computex and will mostly be faced with the Radeon HD 5830. MSI has taken the final step and, whether willingly or not, confirmed this card’s existence, along with the plan to eventually outfit it with the Twin Frozr II cooling mechanism, alongside the GTX 470 and 480.

The hardware maker seems quite interested in making a strong impression at the upcoming expo, especially with the Slatebook tablet almost out. If anything, this piece of news, albeit unconfirmed, does not only show that the GTX 465 will come, but it even suggests that, since custom-cooled models are already underway, availability may come sooner than consumers might expect. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing what modifications the video board will have in terms of clock speeds and operational temperature, if any at all.
