MSI has just announced a strategic partnership with SteelSeries, a renowned manufacturer of gaming peripherals, which will debut with the launch of the GT780 and GX780 notebooks, both of these solutions featuring a SteelSeries designed keyboard layout.

When building the keyboards, the two companies took into consideration features like keyboard material, texture, as well as haptic and tactile feedback and came up with a fully backlit and optimized design that should meet the needs of mobile gamers.

This includes an improved key placement that provides easier access to the WASD cluster, enlarged CTRL and ALT keys, and 3-zone backlit illumination with various light modes and 7 color options.

“SteelSeries is one of those companies that when it's time to partner up and talk innovation for gamers, you look to them,” said Marc Chen, product manager for Laptops at MicroStar International.

“When it comes to mobile gaming, we looked to align ourselves with industry leaders who brought small, but innovative designs features to their products.

“We're looking forward to bringing gamers this level of simple innovation in collaboration with SteelSeries as we rollout the GT780 and GX780 notebooks and we are excited to continue working with the SteelSeries team on upcoming projects and products,” concluded the company's rep.

Both the MSI GT780 and the GX780 gaming notebooks are based on quad-core Intel Sandy Bridge processors and include Nvidia discrete graphics cards (GTX 560M and GT 555M, respectively).

These can be paired together with a maximum of 16GB of system memory, two 2.5-inch drives that can provide up to 1.5TB of storage space, a Blu-ray or DVD burner drive, and the notebooks also carry 2.1 channels speakers as well as USB 3.0, 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.

Both of the MSI machines sport 17.3-inch LED backlit displays and users have the option of choosing between two panels, one supporting a 1600x900 resolution while the other brings Full HD support.

Pricing for the MSI GT780 gaming laptops starts at $1,799.99, while the GX780 has an MSRP of $1,449.99.
