MSI, one of the world's leading motherboard manufacturers, announced yesterday the release of its new series of products, Eclipse. The fresh Eclipse motherboard series is based on the latest chipset Intel X58 and comes with support for the next-generation Intel Core i7 processors with LGA1366-pin design, ultra-high bandwidth QPI (Quick Path Interconnect) transmission system and high-speed DDR3 memory.

The extreme performance levels that the new MSI motherboards can deliver have never been previously attained. Moreover, the series also features the second-generation DrMOS technology for better eco-design in power-consuming, which works along with the power-supply modules of the X58 chipset and DDR3 memory to improve the power efficiency by more than 95 percent.

The MSI Eclipse series comes with support for both ATI CrossFireX and NVIDIA SLI technologies, being able to deliver better 3D performance while allowing users to install the graphics solutions they prefer. The new series also features the “Split Thermal System” which has been designed for better cooling efficiency. The system isolates and separates the heat sink system between the power-supply modules of the chipset and memory, and each of them controls the cooling performance using the DrMOS technology.

More features of the fresh MSI series include the third generation of HT technology realizing eight threaded computing under a quad-core architecture, leveraged memory performance through the 3-channel DDR3 memory slots, a 25.6GB/s bandwidth provided by the QPI transmission system design, while the processor also has new characteristics meant to boost performance and deliver more power efficiency.

The MSI Eclipse series offers three models for users to choose from: Eclipse+, Eclipse SLI, and X58 Platinum. All three motherboards feature six three-channel memory slots, as well as 10 SATAII and 2eSATAII 3Gb/s slots, and 2Gb/s LAN interface. The Eclipse+ and Eclipse SLI motherboards feature a Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme 8-channel audio card, while the X58 Platinum board features an 8-channel audio slot.

The new MSI Eclipse series motherboards can already be seen on the manufacturer's site.
