Taipei, Taiwan-based MSI has officially rolled out its highly anticipated Eclipse Plus motherboard, designed to provide users with support for the latest Nehalem-based processors and NVIDIA's triple SLI technology. The new release extends the company's X58-based motherboard offering with a product that is equipped with the NF200 chip from NVIDIA and the company's second-generation DrMOS technology. Designed as a choice for computer and gaming enthusiasts, the new MSI X58-based motherboard comes
equipped with a series of design features that should make the user's computing experience all the more enjoyable, even when it comes to overclocking.
The new Eclipse Plus is one of those Core i7-supporting motherboards that can allow a computer enthusiast to take advantage of the performance enabled by either an SLI or a CrossFire multi-GPU technology. This feature is mainly due to the combination of the Intel X58 chipset with the NF200 chip designed by NVIDIA. In addition, the board has been equipped with the company's Gen2 DrMOS technology, specifically built to improve the power efficiency of the entire system.
MSI has designed the board to allow users to take advantage of the latest in computing performance, enabling support for a triple-SLI solution that can be enhanced with a fourth GeForce card, meant to take care of NVIDIA's PhysX technology. Basically, the board is featured with four PCI-Express X16 graphics slots, accompanied by dual-Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire connectivity. In addition, for those technology enthusiasts that need to keep track of their system's status, the Eclipse Plus is equipped with a debug LED, Power, Reset, Clear CMOS, OC Dial and Green Power switches.
If that is not enough to satisfy your thirst for higher performance, the Eclipse Plus motherboard comes bundled with a PCI x1 Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio card. Despite no details from MSI regarding pricing and availability, the board is already listed on the website of several online retailers, with an approximate price tag of 359,23 €.
