The new MSI Megabook S260 is small, black and it offers high performance thanks to the latest Intel Centrino technology. Megabook S260 may be the optimal companion for work and maintenance on the way, both for office and home use.
The core of the Megabook S260 is formed by Intel Centrino technology with the Intel Pentium M "Dothan" processor and 533 MHz FSB (Front Side Bus). The new platform was developed under the code name "Sonoma" and the features it offers for notebooks were reserved until now
only to computers, such as PCI express, DDR2, S-ATA, 533 MHz FSB and 6-Channel-Sound.
The power saving functions of the Centrino technology grant up to 4.5 hour uptime. MSI offers for the first time a compact mobile computer with the achievement of advanced desktop PCs features and long running times.
The shine-strong 12.1 inch WXGA display, in the 16:10 format, with a maximum resolution of 1280x800 pixels offers a clear and sharp picture, ideal for work and play. The graphic support is based on Xtreme Graphics 2 engine (Intel GMA900), integrated in the Intel i915GM "Alviso" Chipset.
In the context of the Centrino platform, the Intel 2200BG chip offers support for IEEE802.11b and g network connections standard. These functions can be switched on and off through the four buttons positioned next to the keyboard, to protect the data on the computer against unauthorized accesses.
Furthermore, the MEGABOOK S260 is equipped with a 8x/4x DVD dualformat slimline burner, three USB 2.0 ports and a firewire interface.
MEGABOOK S260 will be available in two versions: 1524D with Pentium M 1,5 GHz, 256 MB RAM and a 40 GB hard drive and 1656D with Pentium M 1,6 GHz, 512 RAM and a 60 GB hard drive.
The MEGABOOK S260 will be available in March, equipped with Microsoft Windows XP Home, for a price starting at 999 euros.
